ACORN Welcomes Summer Student!

As ACORN’s 2nd Beginner Farmer Symposium draws nearer and various programs are launched, ACORN has become increasingly busy! To aid in the planning of several events, we have hired Mara Dieras as the new Events Coordinator for the summer. Mara will help in planning the symposium on August 19th, ACORN’s annual conference in November, and Organic Week activities across the Maritimes.

Mara currently resides in Sackville, N.B., where she is completing her BSc in Mathematics at Mount Allison University. However, she is originally from Halifax, N.S., where she has continuously been learning from her parents agricultural backgrounds. She will surely gain even more experience in the upcoming years, as her family recently acquired an old farm in Port Medway NS in need of a lot of TLC! While helping at the farm and spending time at the beach, Mara is also balancing her new position with ACORN, as well as studying for her first Actuarial exam in July.

With a season full of exciting events ahead, Mara can’t wait to get started in this position alongside the ACORN team.
